The Challenge

How do you create a Christmas campaign that hasn't been done a million times before? More importantly, how do you make it fresh and engaging yet totally relevant to the brand? An idea that is wholly ownable. This was the challenge we faced when Nokia tasked us to create communications for Q4, their most important sales period of the year.

The Solution

The answer lay in a simple truth: Nokia's home is Finland. Finland is the home of Christmas. So we created a magical online 3D world that collected all of the disparate projects in one place. The main site included a Christmas tree decorated with Ovi apps for downloading and sharing, as well as a quirky Finnish family highlighting gift ideas, discounts and offers.

The Result

- Over 300,000 impressions during the campaign (of which 150,000 were unique)

- 81% uplift on sales from the previous Christmas campaign

- 16,000 apps downloaded in two weeks leading up to Christmas

- 13% of all site visitors entered the competition

- 33% of competition entrants came from people who shared the site
